Need suggestions for the career growth

I completed my MBA from ICFAI University & currently I have been working with HDFC Asset Management Co LTD. for the last 2 Years in Sales. I m 29 years old & going to appear in IPCC in MAY 2011. I have decided to leave my job if i can crack the IPCC exam. I need ur suggestions in this regard that will it be helpful for me in my career growth? Coz I wil b completing CA course at the age of 32+ if i can clear it at one go. i want to shift my job profile from sales to core finance. Plz help me out wt would be the best way for me? Being a CA at the age of 32+ can i get a job?

Dont leave the present job till you complete your IPCC and definitely you will get a job at ur age 32 even. Why i am suggesting you to not leave the present job till you crack the exams is - If any gap is showing in your career path then big companies may not show the will to give the jobs. Thats the reason am saying.

For example- what the companies are seeing is whether a regular trend is there or not to a candidate, any gap is there for him and has he be sit aside as unemployed at any point of time like such since you know well than me as you are a job holder since two years.

No worries.... you will get a job at your 32 also... whats all the matter is you have knowledge or not and you are in continuation or not. Its all nothing if you once complete CA.

Even there are persons who are starting their career at 30+ and writing the exams in exam halls. Studying CA at 30+too.

Yes Jayasri, people 30+ are also doing CA, but somehow I feel that the companies today as so obsessed with age, that they find even people who have completed CA at 26 or 27 not hirable. The funniest part happened to me, I completed my CA at 24, and at an Interview, I was asked by the hiring manager why it took me till 24 to complete my CA?

That was really funny, cos he thought that I took 2-3 attempts to clear, though I was a first attempt throughout. So, I really cant say about that. But its really disappointing, the attitude of some of the companies hiring these days, they expect you to be perfect, without any mistakes or screw ups, and know right from the beginning what is good and bad for your career.

Yes ofcourse, anyhow definitely will get a job. But accordingly we can answer why it should take that much time to complete and can show our happenings till date.

Absolutely they will ask about the candidate journey till date. According to talent thats not a big deal if am not wrong. What do you say Sgcray??
