for taxation...always take updated and latest book..for audit it's fine

For Income Tax, I dont think you should waste money on purchasing any new book.

Just take printout of amendments from ICAI website.

For Service Tax, You should purchase new book as there are lots of changes in Service Tax. (I would refer you to purchase CA Ajay Jain Book.)

For VAT, You need not purchase any new book.

Otherwise, You can download amended taxation books from MK Gupta Sir website or ICAI website. They are available at free of cost.
