Not sure where to post this, but I need a CA that can help me with proceedings u/s 147 / 148 (AY 2018-19). Case summary is as below.

- Crypto investor, tax duly paid on profits
- Department served notice u/s 148A on wrong email and I missed window for filing response.
- Noticed this after logging into portal last week
- Submitted response via email to AO with proper documentation, also mentioned the fact of wrong email
- Department started proceedings u/s 147 saying no response to notice 148A was received. Again serving this notice to wrong email.

Any qualified professional willing to accept request for consultancy on this? Preferably in Ahmedabad so we can have face-to-face discussion.

Bit curious what happens in such cases. Does CA take it to court or there’s separate system for that? Does income tax department then waive off or refund any excess wrongly collected? OR can we charge penalty on them for their mistake. Sadly Nandan Nilekani and his useless Infosys have designed a worst ever tool I could ever imagine. I have a strong observation that data rolls back in this system on its own and you are one day taken for surprise.

Worst part is there’s no good provision for a taxpayer to state the issues clearly. There’s no one listening. Sheer disappointing. My hard earned money which I paid as taxes to this government has been wasted by Infosys.

I completely share your sentiment on this one. But it is not just the software or portal acting funny, in most cases it is the AO themselves acting in a dishonest manner. As you'd notice in my case they kept serving notice to wrong email address even after contacting them and pointing out the mistake.

Also, the notice 147 PDF file is dated 31 March but it was uploaded on the portal by AO only on 20 April. This notice is supposed to be responded within 30 days, so in this case I only get 10 days to respond. We the mango people are helpless against such blatant tyranny of the system.
