for a company to carry a non banking business, registration with RBI is necessary....
Certain exemptions have been provided to NBFCs from registration requirement. For example, investment companies investing mainly in group companies only and not accepting public deposits are exempted. Pl refer Core Investment Companies (Reserve Bank) Directions 2011 for details.
