My Best Tips to you To do Best in May exam..Dont miss it

Others 2418 views 28 replies

·        Frame a good time table first. Does not matter even if your preparation is in one way and time table is in other way.

·        Take difficult subject in the best time and easy subject in your most exhausted time.

·        Give more time for a difficult subject and adequate time for the remaining subject.

·        Try to cover all the subject prop*rnatly rather than covering some subject or one subject since this practise will kill your interest towards studies and your studies become boring.

·        Obtain the scanners and suggested answers for understanding the pattern of questions.

·        Within each subject classify each chapter as most important, important and least important according to the weightage in the exam. Give focus and concentration accordingly.

·        Never be selective , must cover all the chapters irrespective of its relevant or important since it is a professional exam and you cant predict from where and how the questions will be set in the exam.

·        Never try to mug up or by heart method, rather understand the concepts and logics, so that your studies shall be so interesting.

·         Avoid the method that you had succeeded in graduate level or post graduate level. Try different method of studies.

·        Give a good weightage for revision else what ever you had learned will be lost and which will result to poor presentation and bad result.

·        Try to frame Group studies for problems papers (MAFA, Accounts) if you can.

·        You can follow the materials along with one good reference book. Some of the subject you need to refer Reference book( Income Tax) and some cases module is best ( Infotech and SM)

·        Adopt different method of studies for problems and theory. Adopt different study strategy for each of the theory and problems paper. Your strategy must be differing according to the subject and according to the difficult level.

·        Example for costing, get a grip over concepts and apply the concepts over the practical problems. There may be so many slippery points with this area. For Income tax, read the provision, get a clear picture over the provisions and try to solve the problems with a clear vision of provisions Etc.

·        Make your short term goals such as Clearing both or single group and fix a contribution over each and every individual paper. But minimum contribution from one paper shall not beyond 50 marks. This means you need to fix a target which is not below 50 marks. Give 10 more additional contribution to the easy subject of yours.

·        Make a habit of making a good study notes for theory subject. Notes preparation is not an easy exercise. It requires some skills such as extracting the required details and document in a manner that you can retrieve the same in any later point of time.

·        Keep away negative people and negative environments. This has an adverse impact on your studies.

·        Try for a mnemonic method (Abbreviation method) of studies for heading and sub heading.

·        Try to find out a good time for your studies. Your working hours shall be productive, and then only you can achieve your ultimate destiny. Try for a 15 productive hours, in that process you can achieve at least 8 to 10 productive hours.

·        Best preparation and poor presentation in the exam may cause failure. Try to present the answer in the way of relevant points and  sub point wise rather than an essay type presentation.

·        Give your mind a positive impact and importance of CA exam just like an Olympic game. Hard practise if you put in to force now , this moment onwards then who will prevent you for the success of this time

Specific action plan for tough subject

You are required to identify toughest subject, allot more time and specific action plan to improve toughest subject.  Normally students spend more time in interesting and easy subject and not giving due weightage for difficult subject. If a subject is tough, then think counter plan to make the subject easy by more involvement in the subject or attending best coaching classes.

Effective method of studies

Step no 1

Understand the concept underlying the problems

Step no 2

Read the problems and try to solve it  using the concept and without using the solutions.. If the solutions with you , need not work your brain. The same is the situation of those who under gone for coaching classes . Doing  the problems with full solutions . This will enhance your thinking process and the same practice will surely help you for finding the solution for surprise gift given to you by the institute.

Note: - The above practice will consume your time..But if you not  doing the above manner ,  you cannot handle the surprise questions in the exam  . In the exam hall  the students will be pressured .

Step no 3

Refer the scanners and suggested questions for Past years, this will give you variety type of questions….Please try to make a trend by referring the past questions as past is the base point for future.

Step no 4

Making a good notes of concept

Step no 5

Good time management skills

Surprise and lengthy questions requires good time management tact. First steps towards this are to allocate the time according to the mark allocated. Secondly start writing the answers after reading the questions in one round.

Write the question that you feel more confidents and comfortable, but if you had reached the allocated time for the particular question better leave the question in that point of time as betterment of which will affect the performance of other answer.

Sum up

  • Step no 1 mental preparation for handling surprise questions.
  • Step no 2 good exercise with great emphasis on concept aspect
  • Step no 3 Solve the problems with out depending on the solutions
  • Step no 5 Good revision with Scanners and ICAI materials
  • Step no 5 A good Time management skills during

Preparation before exam

Preparation before the exam has direct cause and effect relation ship. You need to work hard at the mean time act smart also. In sum, the hard work and smart work need to be balanced  then you can surely get success in the exam.

Hard work and Smart work

You need to select the relevant area first from scanners and past question papers first.

Understand the more relevant and less relevant portions and finalize it and prioritize the chapter according to the importance.

Here , even if you cover 100% of the syllabi will not fetch any result. It may get the rank in other place also.

Then Start hard work on the relevant area with the proper time

Step no 1

Start the study with either ICAI materials or reference book as the case may be( Most of the students will do the same usually)

Step no 2

After covering a particular area you need to go the exam question pattern, may it be case laws and you need to apply the concept there. Cover such type of question along with regular study.

Approaches for practical and Case law type of questions

In case  of case law answer you need to split it in to Two parts .

Part one is  Fact of the cases

Part two  is  the relevant concept and finally give your good conclusion in this way the case law and application oriented theory questions can be handled.

Amendment and update before exam

You must be cautious about the amendment  and update happened at least 6 month before the exam and also go through the other amendment. It is a normal trend of ICAI to set the question papers based on the amendment. Be  vigilant about the update around you.

Make a habit of reading student  news letter and journal of ICAI at least  for taxation and Law matters.

These are the last moment before your exam. You may be over worked and may be feel tired. Here you are required to have full concentration and better learning since better preparation only can lead to better presentation in exam. If you are good in preparation you will automatically be good in presentation part also. Some were not able to remember or not able to give focus due to pressure...Leave the pressure..Regain the confidence and think that you can.

Mental preparation

Your mind must be upgraded with the seriousness of the exam and depth of the course, care must be taken to ensure that these two factor must not lead to any tension or pressure that is really harm from the exam point of view.

Give the importance of playing the world cup tournament. If you had practiced well, you will be in else some one will enter in your place. Raise your mind and try to bring all your ability during these last moment or days before  the exam.

What is not impossible will be possible on a later point of time

How, it is due to constant hard effort. Firstly you must require to have a strong believe that you will clear this coming exam and do a right hard work. You must see you will clear the exam.

Stick on Scanners and suggested answers for understanding most relevant area. Make sure that you had done well in this relevant area. (For Final Audit Professional ethics).

Don’t interact with negative people who will eat up your productivity

Don’t mingle with your friends until complete the exam.

Switch off your mobile, remove the sim, be calm.

Don’t use internet, chat etc

Give the positive feed back to the brain ..YOU CAN

Are you willing for a good hard work today onwards?  If the answer is yes, then, start it now onwards. Give a positive feed back to your brain that you can clear and you are going to clear, that will automatically create a lot of powerful positive energy. Don’t mind even if you had failed just now or many attempts.

Regain your Confidence

When you fail, it will automatically diminish your confidence. If you continue to fail even after your good hard work also have the effect of loosing the confidence.  Here you first regain your confidence first.  Identify the reason for failure and try to find out a way for coming out of your problems. Please understand that it is a psychological only. But Change your focus from failure to for coming success and be think positively and do a good hard and smart work plan. Only the confidence is the key.

Framing a study schedule and stick on it

Make a formal study plan now onwards; fix a time table for various subjects and  try to adhere to the schedule.

Understand the pattern and relevant chapters with the help of scanners and suggested answers But never ever do a selective studies on that basis.

Effective study

Understand the logics, concepts, (Pros and cons)of every  subject.  Then try to make good notes then try to reproduce by referring to your notes and a quick revision on the same day. Please do the same for relevant area at least. But keep a good goal for clearing your exam.  The goal is your destination and you will find many means for reaching your destination

Take very tough subject in your good time and an easy subject for your non productive time. Pay more attention to weaker subject or weaker topics.

Revision>> Retention for exam>>better presentation for exam

Give more weight ages for revision. You need to retain whatever you had learned  up to the date of your exam. Only the effective learning will help you to retain the information over a long period of time. What is effective learning?  Understand the pros and cons with good clarity and quick revision of the same.  So do more quick revision that is only the solution.

Use following technique

Read>>>understand the pros and Cons>> Make a good note >>Try to repeat the main points with the help of key notes>> Quick revision on the same day>>

Nothing is impossible, You must work hard and smart the success will be yours for the coming exam

hai sir thanks for your suggestions. i am going to give group1 of pcc. shall i daily study all three subjects or complete one by one. because i have not taken leave till now

Never ever  compromise failure over your confidence

But never compromise your confidence with failure. Confidence is internal and failure is external factor. If your internal factor dominates over the external factor you are a positive person and vice versa.

There are 6 or 8 papers respectively for your PCC/ I P CC exam. Out of these, you may be commanding in some papers and weak in some others.

A group normally consist of a combination of Weak and good papers. Both these combination would determine your success or failure.

Some may be strong in all the areas and some may be average and some others may be poor. If you are weak in a particular subject, go to the basic and allocate more time for over coming the weakness. Improvement is a fine tuning process.

There is a direct relationship with the success to excellence and excellence to improvement.

What is your long term goal? Getting the best in the worst scenario. For that a good management of good and weak paper is required. As far as a weak paper is concerned you must be start from the lowest basic level, some time the ignorance of basic may create the subject difficult.

Systematic studies

Daily targets

It is advisable to fix a daily target. Fix a balancing timetable with you. But the hour’s utilization shall be in such a manner that will optimize your maximum possible potential.

Full focus while you read

Give maximum focus at the time of reading. Get through the basic and concepts. Try to learn own your own. If you cannot able to do own your own, then go for a best coaching centre.

Good notes

Make a good note. The note making requires some skills and experience. But if your note is good, just reading a point will lead to understood you the main concept. But try to prepare notes.

Periodic revision

Revision is an essential factor for success. You must revise periodically. You can use the notes at the time of revision. Those who not revise periodically may produce a poor result for the exam.

Group studies

It is better to have a group for studies particularly for the problem paper. But care need to be taken for the size of the group. Maximum 5 people or less shall be an ideal group. Group studies will be fruitful at the time of revision and the problem paper like Cost and FM and Advanced Accounts.

Now the count down for CA exam is started. This is the crucial and critical time as far as a CA student is concerned. The exam fever also spreading along with IPL Fever

Most of the student has started their serious study towards the exam. Some may be started the preparation few day back due to the leave of article is granted to them just few days back.

In this scenario, it is better here to discuss how to approach for the exam, what are the strategies required to be adopted for clearing the exam

Mind set up

Take an example of Indian team in world cup. They were out even without reaching the super 6 round. Is the team was weak?  The answer is no, what was wrong is the failure to cope with the pressured situation.

Like wise as a student you have good potential but due to the pressured nature of the exam may be delimit your own ability and ultimately in the pit of failure. Some students were working hard for the exam; they had all the talent with them but fail in the exam due to the pressure imposed by the exam

What is the reason for the pressure?

The prejudice view that the CA exam is tough and difficult to clear and approaches for the exam in the same mind set up. The result will be same; the exam is tough and fails.

What is the solution is required?

Take the exam as a challenge and make a good net practice before going to the real match situation. Think to bring all the potential which is not explored till the time .Think that I will write the exam by the level best whether the exam is a bouncer or easy.

Secondly lack of systematic  plan

Take an example, a student had  covered Accounts, costing, corporate law and tax, still 30 days were left for the exam? What to do? Need to cover audit, Info tech and SM, Taxation the students may be started his studies with the intention of writing both group.

What he will do?

Covering the audit , law, Info tech in hurry and write the exam that is both group. I suggest it will not be a wise plan .Better focus on any one group whether  group one or group two and give the full focus towards it. Those who had not able to cover all the subject in the both group can also adopt the same plan.
<!--[if !supportLineBreakNewLine]-->
<!--[endif]-->

Stick on most important area

What is the peculiarity of exam question is 40% of  questions set in the exam are repetitive. That you can understand through scanners

Secondly , more mark of questions were set in particular chapter in may exam and that will not be so in November exam. Take the trend analysis of your scanner you can see this peculiarity

Example  In may exam more mark questions will be set from profit and gains from business and profession, but in the November exam the pattern shall be for capital gain chapter ( This is just an example only and really there no similarity)

Some questions will be compulsory  in all exam. Take an example of gross total income problem aspect in Income Tax. This is for the purpose of testing the knowledge about the subject.

Some questions were general and more time and least mark will be set for the exam.

Finally, testing  the knowledge about the amendment area and other recent changes. Say AAS changed in to SA ,

Make a good trend and pattern for the coming exam and be focus more on these area. Bring your mind and body  towards this direction.

At least two round of coverage before the exam and during the day before exam stick on notes. You cannot cover  single chapter of profit and gains of business and profession in a reputed text book which you had covered  even well also.

But you can cover two time all the area provided if you had made the major points in a single note book.

Make the habit of notes during the initial stages of studies. Care should be taken in the area of notes making

   Tips for writing your exam…..

Stop reading of subject at least half an hour before exam

Be in seat before 15 minute before disbursement of question paper

Take two pen, one calculator, scale, sharpener, eraser etc in your seat

Enter your registration number and make your mind free.

As and when receiving  the question paper  read one time in rough

Start those question which you know better.

If you stopped  in a particular area, leave the same at that point of time and start writing another question rather than thinking and wasting for unknown question.

Allocate the time according to the marks at the disposal.

It is better to write point to point with proper heading and sub heading rather than an essay type answer.

For 5 mark question , you just write only five relevant point with proper heading and sub heading. This will help the examiner to track the answer

If you write in essay format, the examiner have to apply search technique and will create negative impact . Don’t adopt cut and paste mechanism which is called mugging up technique.

Answer all un attended question last point of time

Stop writing the exam at least 5 to 10 minute, just read it. You may be find some omission or some correction. This will be a positive impact on examiner.

In short  good preparation and better performance and presentation will help you for cracking the exam for this coming may 10

Really very useful to me Sir. Once again Thanks a Lot
