what made GST Council to go for Monthly Returns instead of Half yearly or Quarterly? That was not enough and they made it more strict by not allowing a Registered supplier to file all returns in a single sitting? give some technical arguments.
it is not the first time that the department has made it in the monthly basis till now under VAT/CST all new dealers were required to file returnmonthly basis for 1 year and also those who need topay tax more than 60000 also need to file on monthly basis
as per my one govt take very good decision for filling monthly return all delear zero tax payable or 100000 tax payable. in monthly return delear know to purchaser party timely return file or not if he is not file in time or mismatch credit delear can be take action in next month from his goods purchase or not if hi not file properly than his tax payment directed from bill and balance paid to party don't wait for govt notice and pay with penalty and interest.
the dealers and practitioners, i know, are complaining about this as they were feeling it easy to file Quarterly VAT Returns. i can't question the decision but i can' also find any convincing argument for this.
one of the best decisions; as per council meeting decision, Quarterly Returns for dealers having Turnover below 1.50 Crore approved. (w.e.f. Oct-Dec 2017 Quarterly Return in Jan 2018)
