Missed itr filing for ay 2016-17

Hi,

I accidentally missed ITR filling for AY 2016-17. Can anybody please help me out to filling ITR for AY 2016-17 (Filling for last AY is already done). I am getting a continuous email from ITD containing :
"It is observed that you have not filed the Income Tax Return for XXXXXXXXX for AY 2016-17."

I am a Software Developer Freelancer. I want to save TAX for that year. And what could happen if I completely skip that filling?
So can you please guide me out in this case.

You can file belated return for AY 2016-17 u/s. 139(4)......... till March 31; 2018...

But last date is 31.3.18 for assessment year 16-17 and 17-18

You can file Your ITR for the AY 16-17 upto 31st March 2018. Go to file...

you can not do anything now to save your ay 16-17 tax. all saving done in that year will come to your help. if your income is taxable in that year and you skip the filing of return ito has right to charge penalty and interest for non filing of itr. if your income is less that basic tax limit then you can skip filing.

As per my personal opinion, you can file ITR but its have consequence for that.

IT Department cany levy penalty and prosecution if you some due exceed the minimum 3000....

You have to consult an Chartered Accountant...
