Hey Mr. Singh! Here's how you can handle miscellaneous payments that don't have matching GST bills:
Treatment of Miscellaneous Payments:
1. Nature of the Payment:
-
First, identify the nature of these miscellaneous payments. Are they business-related expenses, personal expenses, loans, advances, or something else?
-
If they are business expenses but no GST invoice is available (maybe because the supplier is unregistered), you cannot claim ITC on them under GST.
2. Under GST:
-
Since there is no GST invoice, you cannot claim Input Tax Credit (ITC) on these payments.
-
These payments should be recorded in your books but excluded from GST ITC claims.
-
If these are expenses related to your business, treat them as expenses without input tax credit.
3. Under Income Tax:
-
You can claim these payments as business expenses for income tax purposes, provided you can justify them as genuine business expenses and have proper supporting documents (other than GST invoices), such as payment vouchers, receipts, contracts, or bank statements.
-
The miscellaneous payments will be included in your profit & loss account as expenses and reduce your taxable income.
Summary:
| Aspect | Treatment |
| No matching GST bill | No ITC claim allowed |
| Business expense? | Can be claimed as expense in Income Tax |
| Personal expense? | Should not be claimed as business expense |
