Hi Team,

While filing ITR for FY 2017-18, please suggest where to show medical reimbursement of Rs 15000/- in the ITR form as I could not find the option.

Hi ,

Anyone please update here !!

It is perquisite defined under section 17(2) [subsec. (viii)]..... exempted upto limit Rs.15,000/-

So, you cannot declare it separately in ITR, but based on form 16, you have to add only taxable portion of perquisites in sr. no. 3  under Salary head.

Thanks Sir!!

For example if total salary is X, should I put X-15000 in the Salary head ? (In form 16, Rs 15000 is shown as medical re-imb). Also, if we do so, that will be mismatch between salary shown in ITR and In 26AS..

Please clarify

Regards,

Rajiv

Salary (Excluding all exempt/ non-exempt  allowances, perquisites & profit in lieu of salary as they are shown separately below)

Here net salary figure is to be filled.....

If any query in future, the deducted amount can be specified as exempted perquisite.

Hi Sir,

Thanks again.

Also, in ITR form on last TAB 'Taxes paid and verification', we can define exempt income (for reporting purposes). Here we can mention in OTHERS category as 'medical reimburseemnt' and its amount.

Pls confirm.

Regards,

Rajiv

Sir, please suggest if I am correct so that I can add this information in ITR and submit.

Yes, You are correct.......

In the Other Income, not to be included into taxable income, make the entry.

In dropdown if medical allowance entry is not present, then select 'Any Other' in dropdown and in the adjoining box enter MEDICAL ALLOWANCE and enter Rs 15,000.

yes, its not there, hence others option need to be selected with required descripttion.
