Medical Reimbursement

Can we use medical bills of 2010 for the medical reimbursement of 2011 (Medical reimbursement of Rs 15000 which exempted under section 17(2) of IT Act)?

If that is not possible then what is the rational behind it. Why should govt bother as long as money is used on medical expenses?

its primariliy mater between employer and employee,

the employer has to get ensure about the genuineness and correctness of documents submitted for such any purpose.

incometax department does not intervein usually unless they feel that matter is subject to their review. they belief that employer has performed their duties as per rules, and if found incorrect employee and employer both are similarily taken under eyes of voilation of rules.

Does it mean that it is incorrect to use genuine Medical bills of FY 2010-2011 in the FY of 2011-2012? or Bills of FY 2010-2011can be used for the reimbursement in the FY of 2011-2012?

Please clarify. IT Act does not specify the time period as long as money is used on medical expenses.

Does anyone has clear information on this?

Thanks.

IT act is not clear on this. So we can use bills of 2010 for consideration in 2011.

Hi,

No, We can not use 2010 bills in 2011. For each year, we can use 15K against medical reimbursements but the bills should be of current period.

Thanks

None of the IT section stops us to consider bills of 2010 in 2011. Best we can do is that, we can consider bills after the date of joining of employee. Hope this will clarify.
