Under section 80D, where the assessee is an individual,
the whole of the amount paid on account of medical expenditure incurred on the health of the assessee or any member of his family and parents as does not exceed in the aggregate thirty thousand rupees shall be allowed as deduction.

thank you for your reply.

But i just wanna tell you that sec. 80D is eligible for medical insurance premium, not for medical expense.

Yes Mr.Ashutosh you are right, but this language is used in the section. In a nutshell we can say that, we can claim deduction in respect of medical insurance premium taken on the life of assessee, spouse, dependent childrens and parents of assessee and in respect of very senior citizens for whom no medical policy is available generally we can take deduction for other medical expenditures incurred for them.
Upto Rs.5000, deduction can be taken in respect of Preventive health check up also. But this limit is not exclusive of above limits.
