I have a friend who worked for 3 months during the year and was since unemployed due to pregnancy. She has received Medical reimbursement for those 3 months as part of her salary, but has actual expenses during unemployment. I understand she cannot claim any exemption for the complete year but can she claim exemption upto the reimbursement amount for the year even though the bills do not pertain to the 3 month period, considering they still fall during the same taxation year?
