While calculating income from salary HRA shall be calculated on the basis of rent paid per month from that exemption u/s 10(13A)

shall be deducted:

Actual HRA Received :

Less : Exempt u/s 10(13A) lower of the following :

i) Actual HRA Received

ii)Rent paid less 10% of salary

iii) 50% of salary
Bro what I asked is "Is there any specific provision stating the maximum Rent payable". I'm not asking about HRA exemption computation
There is no specific provision restricting rent.

you can even pay 1 crore rent per month.

you need to justify it considering market rate etc.
Thanks Sushant

You can claim any amount of rent if you can justify the payment with actual rent receipts and claim eligible HRA on it.

If the rent paid is less than Rs,. 1,00,000 then PAN is not required to be reported to the employer.

You can not ask Government to fix maximum rent amount for each and every property
No there is no provision provided for Maximum Rent payable
