Quick Summary
Users are encountering an 'Invalid hash value' error when uploading JSON files for ITR-5 using the Excel-based utility. Despite trying the latest version and following validation steps, the Income Tax portal continues to show errors. A potential workaround involves copying and pasting a correct header row from a sample file, saving as UTF-8 encoded CSV, and re-uploading. Professionals are seeking assistance to resolve this persistent issue.

  • Instead of highlighting the individual filled-out cells, be sure to click on the "1" cell in the file to instantly highlight the entire row and then hit "ctrl + c" on your keyboard to copy the complete row

  • To replace the current header that is generating the error, copy this row from the Sample file, click on cell (1) in the file you're trying to upload, and then paste the original row in your file.

  • After pasting the new row, save the updated file with the.csv file extension and ensure that it is UTF-8 encoded.

  • You can upload again after that, and it should import successfully!
