We have received long term capital gains on sale of shares before 31st March 2018. Our category is resident individual. My question is can we show this in ITR 1 under exempted income category Sec 10(38) exempted long term capital gains where stt is paid or it has be shown in ITR 2 under Capital Gains head.

no.. you have to file ITR 2 for claiming exemption
Ok so why is there a option for declaring LTCG in ITR 1?
