Lost interest in studying

Friends, I was preparing for may final exams since last 2 months very seriously, But since last 10 days I was just wasting my time. I cannot concentrate as I used to be before.

Actually I was reading law from MB text book since last 2 weeks & couldnt even finish 5 chapters.cryingsad

Now I totally lost interest in studying & only 45 days left. I"m attempting only 1st group in may. Now I want to keep aside all the reference books & just want to read only PM + RTP+ SUGG ANS. for the next 45 days.

(I didnot read allied laws atlest once & also SFM theory) so what to do now. I"m already done with practice manuals for FR & SFM(only problems).

Please help me to come out of this phase.

Try to study with proper plan (with date of start and end) also if you study too long without break you won't be able to remember and retain.

Plan, Positive thinking and Persistence will help you

Hi Madhu, I amnt actually the right person to advise you on this since I myself havent yet been able to really study in a proper manner. I am currently reading law but things arent moving bcoz I am hardly able to study for more than 2 hours a day. So we are in the same boat and I am pretty sure there are many others like us. But the one difference that I see between you and me is that you have been studying seriously in the recent past whereas my problem is that I amnt really able to kickstart my studies. I am confident I will be able to study well once I start studying seriously for a few days(but the problem is that it isnt happening). So what I am saying is that there must be something which have made you suddenly lose interest in your studies. I think it has to do with the deadline you had set for yourself. I remember you saying that you wanted to finish the portion somehow by 15th March and allocate the remaining time for revision(To be honset, it wasnt really easy since you did your coaching a long time back and had to start things afresh on your own.....You dont have to really feel bad about not finishing the portion within a set timeframe) . As the target date was getting near, you must have started feeling really tense about the whole situation since things have not happened really the way you wanted and a substantial portion of the syllabus remaining untouched. And now you must be feeling even worse since you are actually eating up your revision time. I guess all these thoughts have led you into such a situation that you are now unable to study. So what is the solution...? Shorten your revision time and give more time to your first time reading. Even 12 days(3 days per subject) are adequate for revision. That gives you 32 days more for completing your portion(8 whole days per subject). This will definitely give you a breathing space and make you more relaxed and comfortable and I guess by doing this you will be able to get back to serious studies. Try this out..Lets see if this works..

You lost interest?? Unbelievable. I have read your earlier posts too.. And I can clearly make out that you are a fighter. A change in your study schedule will surely help.

Thank You Jithin & Shalini, friends like you really make my confidence boost up.

Yes after reading your responses, I reviewed my last 2 months studies. I think the biggest mistake I did was, finishing my practical papers early(FR, SFM). when it came to theory I just started jumping between audit & law.( audit I have done once from surbhi bansal book, but law its for first time) and PM of audit is the real culprit angry after reading which I totally lost interest & law as I have not done it atleast once I was more tensed about finishing it.(after looking at MB text book).

But now I'm planning to start my revision with FR & SFM to regain my interest atlest for 2 hrs a day & balance try to finish law & audit.

Anyway I cant afford neglecting PM, so somehow I need to do it..sad

I hope to finish 1st reading of law atleast by  end of this month. I really hope so.

Wat ever u do never lose ur hope in your life
I'm sure you must have not asked any seniors who actually passed the CA Final exam, before you started planning. 1st reading is supposed to be without PM... 2nd reading will obviously be faster, more deep and this time WITH PM after second read. Reason is that when u do pm after second read, you will be answering the qns ... And not just reading icai answers. In the process you will learn what they need in the answers and also where u go wrong... If your only giving first group.... Then u still have ample of time.... Aim -- Attempt -- Achieve !

Ok, so that was the issue..Yeah when you study theory for the whole day, it tends to get monotonous and boring. It is a good idea that you have decided to revise the practical subjects alongside. Besides reducing the boredom factor, this will also make you revise accounts and sfm in a much more effective manner. Revision of practical subjects for a few hours on a daily basis now itself is much better than a full fledged revision later on.

Yep you can finish Law by this month..You have two more weeks. But I suggest you to not compromise on the quality of your studies in pursuit of this target. I mean you shouldnt study law beyond the point it starts get boring. When it gets beyond your endurance level, switchover to practical subjects even if that means you falling short of your target for Law(Otherwise you may lose your interest once more..Also your effective study time will be much lesser when you persist with something which has begun to make you feel weary). It doesnt matter whether you complete law a few days later. The more important thing is that you use your study time productively.

Do anyone have any idea about mock exams to be conducted in hyderabd. I have posted a query in EXAMS. here's the link.

/forum/ca-final-mock-exams-322920.asp#.VQl8cZ2UeSM

Can someone suggest me whether its good to read Q & A also from MB text book law, or just read the sections & provisions from text book & later read PM.

If I read text book fully ie Q&A also can I skip PM???

Can someone suggest me whether its good to read Q & A also from MB text book law,

Yes, it is quite helpful. You will be reading the Q & A from MB just after going thru the corresponding section in MB whereas in practice manual you attempt questions only after completing the entire chapter. When you go thru practical illustrations immediately after reading the relevant section, you will be able to better relate to the provisions under the section. The other benefit from reading Q&A in MB is that u may come across problems that arent in PM(I amnt sure about this coz I am yet to refer PM for any chapter).

Nope you cant. PM is like Bible for CA students. Lets say MB Q & A and PM give different answer to a particular question and both the answers are correct in their own way. In such a scenario, you willnt be getting any marks by writing according to MB Q&A. You will have to stick to PM.

During the last few days, many students in the caclub forum have been complaining about some mistakes in the new MB book. So that is another reason for not ignoring PM.

Here is the mock test schedule https://www.icaihyd.org/pgcntnt/pgcFinalmocktest.pdf

Anyways it is of no use to u as the 1st grp tests ended 2day.

Thank you jithin. Yes its of no use of mock exams now. But I hope there will be another series in april for which schedule is not yet released.

Anyway even if I knew about exams before I would have not attended as I'm not done with my syllabus yet. Thank you for the link. It will be helpful to verify for schedule of second series.

I amnt really sure if the 2nd series notification will be uploaded on the same link. It wud be better if u check mock tests page of Hydrebad branch website for any updates on 2nd series. Here is the link to that https://www.icaihyd.org/category.php?mid=14&cid=32 I actually got the above notification by visiting this link.
