Quick Summary
This discussion explores which ledger account should be debited when a company procures a customer database. The consensus suggests treating this database as an intangible asset. Therefore, the appropriate ledger account to debit would be 'Intangible Assets', reflecting its value as a real account with a debit balance.

This is like customer lists. If you look at intangible assets ledger, it's a real account and debit balance.

In the Intangible assets ledger on the debit side 'To Bank' and on the credit side of the ledger 'By customer lists'
