Karnataka vat - 1 address muliple firm

Hello,

Can there be 2 VAT registered firm for 1 address?

I have a firm VAT registered in jayanagar, bangalore. It is a garment store cum small office. I'm starting a small software services work. It makes sense for me to use the existing office space for starting a software services company which will be a 1-person company at this point. The Sales Tax registration people are saying it is not possible to have more than 1 TIN at 1 address. they are siggesting to do software services in the same firm as garment retail - and to me that does not make sense as they are so different businesses.

What so people here think are my options?
