Itr2 - where to show stcg for equity international funds.

ITR 528 views 1 replies

As per my understanding in CG(capital gain) tab of ITR2 form, A2 should be used to declare STCG for sale of equity oriented mutual fund and for other mutual funds A5 should be used.

But as Equity international feeder funds are taxed as Debt Fund, I am confused if it should be declared in A2 or A5.

What about LTCG in this fund type ? Should it be declared in B7 in CG(capital gain) tab as debt fund or in EI(Exempted Income) ?

e.g.

Mutual Fund Name - Franklin India Feeder Franklin US Opportunities Fund(G)

Mutual Fund Class - Equity

Tax Benefits

  • Long term capital gains (LTCG) tax @ 20% (plus surcharge, if applicable and cess) with indexation if units held for more than 36 months
  • Short term capital gains (STCG) tax at the income tax slab rate if units are held for less than 36 months
  • Investor does not pay any tax on dividends but a Dividend Distribution Tax (DDT) is deducted at source @ 28.84% (25% + 12% surcharge + 3% education cess)

Yes, it is treated as Debt fund for taxation purpose.......... hence fill the details in A5 of schedule 'CG'
