Itr1 query

Please see the sheet named TDS in the attached ITR1 xls file. Please see the table no. 24 with heading

Details of Tax Deducted at Source on Income OTHER THAN SALARY
[As per FORM 16 A issued by Deductor(s)]

In that table the last column heading is "

Amount out of
(6) claimed for
this year"

My query is: What does this column means/want? I ask because in that table in the preceeding column we are already staing how much tax has been deducted.

Hi

In that last column you have to fill the total amount of TDS utilised for the year out of the total tax deducted for the year..

What do you mean by 'utilised'  here? What do you mean by 'utilised for the year'  here?

Suppose I am filling for interest earned by me in fixed deposit. In that case the amount in column 6 will be equal to column 7.  Because the TDS for a financial year (column 6) will of course be equal to TDS amount claimed for that year (column 7). Is not it?

Hi

I just meant that TDS related to the income earned for that year.......both the column has to be filled with the same amount....

Why did then they put an extra column (column 7) if both column 6 and column 7 should have the same value?

I think this column may be applicable in case of remote possibility where the Bank effecting TDS reports wrong (Eccessive) figure than actual TDS. In that case you have to claim credit for your correct TDS.
