Quick Summary
If you missed filing your Income Tax Return (ITR) last year and are due a refund, you cannot use the ITR-U form. Instead, you may need to apply for condonation permission under section 119(2)(b) of the Act. Alternatively, you might be able to claim the refund in the current year's tax return.

For refund, ITR u/s. 139(8A) is not eligible; instead file u/s. 119(2)(b) of the act, after getting condonation permission.

No you can't file ITR-U, but you can claim refund in current year also
Thank you
