One of my client has not filed ITR for AY 2018-2019.
Last return filed was AY 2017-2018.
Since the time period is lapsed, can the ITR of AY 2018-2019 be filed now by an alternative method?
or
Directly ITR of AY 2019-2020 should be filed?

You can directly file ITR for AY. 2019-20. ITR for AY 2018-19 not possible to file normally, but by condonation request u/s. 119(2/B) of the IT act.

But condination how much time will it take?
I have planned to filed both AY 2018-2019 and then AY 2019-2020 in order.
Also the time constraint is there of 14 days are remaining now for due date from today for AY 2019-2020.

Why to wait for condonation, when you are allowed to file ITR for AY 2019-20 directly?
Condonation request may be filed for AY 2018-19, only if any refund is due for that particular year. Usually it takes 2 to 3 months, and gets rejected if no proper reason found for not filing return in specified time.

File your AY 2019-2020 return before 31st August and if not filed late fee /penalty is there
