1. I have taken a housing loan to purchase a new flat and am paying EMI. I have no other housing property. As on 31st March 2013, I have not got the possession of the apartment.
Can I claim Home loan interest exemption for the above?
2. With respect to above scenario, for AY 2013-14, which ITR should I fill in?
3. I believe, even if I am not able to abail the exemption for AY 2013-14, I would be able to do so once I get possession of the flat, and then, I can claim exemption for the interest paid for the period the apartment was under construction, @ 20% of the unexempted amount (until the flat was ready for possession) for next 5 years. Is this correct?
