Income Tax Department website has enabled efiling of Income Tax return for the A.Y. 2009-10 today (02-06-2009) after a long time.

Now you can file income tax return online for the A.Y. 2009-10. But there is major change regarding ITR-V. (How to file income tax return online)

  • Now you have to send ITR-V to the address below
  • Income Tax Department , CPC, Post Box No - 1, Electronic City Post Office, Bangalore - 560100, Karnataka
  • within thirty days after the date of transmitting the data electronically.
  • No form ITR-V shall be received in any other office of the Income-tax Department or in any other manner. (See Circular on new income tax forms)
  • Upon receipt of the Form ITR-V, the CPC shall send an e-mail acknowledging the receipt of Form ITR-V. The e-mail shall be sent in due course to the e-mail address furnished by the tax-payers in his return. No Form ITR-V shall be received in any other office of the Income-tax Department or in any other manner.

Do you agree with decision to send ITR-V to Bangalore.

Please give your comment.

I have a problem related to filing Income Tax Return with USB e-Token.  What is the procedure to register Digital Signature (in USB e-Token) at Income Tax E-filing website?

The site required some PK#11 .dll or .so file and its Smart Card Pin No.  Where I get these file and Pin no.  I have USB e-Token issued by Sify.   Please reply.

i really don't like the  new .system of   e filling...... it will only create confusion and  is time consuming n  costly affair

The process of sending ITR - V to bangalore will just increase the cost to a practising CA as only one ITR - V can be sent in a A - 4 size envelope and when we will get the email from the department is not known. I have sent one to banglore one week ago and still not received any email from them

If the dept. really want people to file their returns online, then this is not an encouraging step. Instead of this, local ITD should have given powers to accept ITR-V and then it would send all the collected ITR-V to CPC, Banglore.

what a stupid decision this is ... I do not understand how the CPC will have previous history of a file.. I have sent so far 12 ITR's to CPC 10 days before.. till now searching for acknowledgement every day in mail id... no result.. local ITD is better...

corporates who are in the business of issuing digital signature will be benefitted by this decision.

wrong decision

Please anyone can you confirm if ony 1 ITRV should be sent in an A4 size cover ie, separately or I can send a few of them together.Should I send by registered post so I can get an ack..........or just courier....Pls clarify urgently

The notification states "the assessee shall furnish the Form ITR-V to the Income Tax Department". Therefore in my opinion one ITR V should be sent in an A4 size cover only. You should prefarably send it by Registered post so that you will atleast get an acknowledgment of return filing. I have sent one to banglore 10 days ago but still not received any email from them regarding my submission. I guess my courier receipt will be the acknowledgement instead of the email.

please do not courier the ITR V you have to Registered A.D.it to Banglore Address

The Post Office does not accept Reg.Ack Due as it is POBox No.They were quite frank in saying that we have to bend the A4 cover while tying up with other envelopes of smaller size.So either courier or ordinary post.
