Quick Summary
This discussion explores whether input tax credit (ITC) from a later tax period can be used to offset liabilities from an earlier, late-filed GST return. While some initial advice suggested it's possible, the consensus leans towards 'no'. The fundamental principle is that ITC must be claimed based on the invoice date and conditions under Section 16 of the CGST Act must be met at the time of the original liability, not deferred.

As per law, INPUT can be availed on the basis of invoice., Deferment of ITC possible.

I didn't get you can you elaborate it with an example or concern section/rule
Yes, you can utilize ITC of october month for Jan liability

You are not Eligible Later Month Input for Earlier Month Tax Liability

For Claim ITC basic condition must be fulfilled for Claim ITC as Per Section 16 of CGST Act
