ITC on zerox or scanned copy of bill.

These days, it has become a general practice of sending tax invoices via email, whatsapp etc. (manually or digitally signed) instead of posting or hand delivering the original invoice. This practise is well settled and conveniently accepted by everybody.

My query is relating to GST. Is ITC of GST allowed on zerox or scanned printed copy of bill (manually signed)? Section 16(a) prescribes possession of tax invoice, it is silent on the original copy of the tax invoice.

You cannot take input tax credit on xerox copy of bill.
