yes it is true that it & sm is a tough paper to score in ca pcc and ipcc. Because both subjects have broad syllabus and difficult text. but myself and many of my friends have cleared this paper by reading institute's module of this subject. Module is more than enough. You must read it throughly more than 3 times. Make notes of sm using shortcuts and create own short words by using first words of points. I think it will help. Do a lot of practice of flowchart also. Remember it part in memory and understand sm part, and surely you will get succeed. Best wishes

     Sorry to hear about that.. Look IT & SM is neither tough nor easy subject. 

As per my experience, I studied study material for this subject and definetly scanner . you might know that the questions of IT repeats mostly. in that case YAAD KARLO POINTS of the questions.. Until n unless you wirte the points mentioned in IT books (study material) you are not gonna get marks n for SM use your analysis of business environment that you have read. ISMAI BHI TUMHE POINTS TOH PURA YAAD KARNA HI HAI. No option bro..

i know your problem, be cause my friend also faced same problem like you.

just you have to give best presentation, means you have use the same terminalogy in it to get good marks. for this you have to mugup or do hard practice.

you saying it is tough paper, no you are absolutly wrong, it is scoring paper, if you want see the marks scored by rankers.

rankers will get 70+ in this paper.

so do practice very well and write........................

Actually we can call it a  serial mystery …because in every chapter , we can easily find the kith n kins …So if u can understand the concept of relativity then u have won half of ur battle towards strategic mgt,,

You will get a separate sheet to answer IT and SM. So be cautious in writing in write answer sheet. Bcz the boy behind me had done IT work in his SM answer sheet.

MY VIEWS

ü  Study material is good , interesting. It really make a good base for case study until n unless u can make a proper concise of it.

ü  That’s why I had also referred  Dinesh madan  book which is just  of 100 pages. And obviously to the point.

ü   u can also refer Rathor  or nitesh book …as they  are also well known writers.

ü  In nitesh book...it is quite similar to study material.

As earlier  I had mentioned that it is a serial mystery  so u cant ignore the relatives, that’s  why importance of every chapter cant b defined so accurately.

How to study

·         Its good to study in sequential order

·         Chapter 1 is basic thing. But porter’s five forces model is imp to b read and undertand  in this chapter

·         From chapter 2 onwards read seriously , understand the meaning & logic behind every sentence and try to connect every chapter with chp 2 onwards

·         So chapter 2 is the base of SM

·         Chptr 7 is truly different . U can read it as per  ur convenience.A must chapter to ensure 5 marks .

Dear friend you should atempt in may 2012,

you are failing continuously because either you are following  wrong books or your strategy is not correct for exam point of view or depending heavily on any sir's notes  ...time has come to change your strategy..... .i am giving you some tips for exam...accordingly you can  form your strategy.

For IT :  use compiler/suggested ans / practice manual  only. do not use any book available in market.

                use diagrams wherever applicable.(most imp)

                try to write down the answers technically.

               for flow charts just analyse what kind of flow charts are expected in the exam .

.flow chart is a purely   conceptual matter and do not try to practice all types of folwcharts .

   ...you will get confused in the exam for  sure and afterwards you will find that you have made a mistake in a common

and repetitive kind of flow chart.

       if you carefully analyse past 10 to 15 term papers you can easily catch the trend of  IT  papers  and prepare accordingly.       

For SM  : (the most interesting part in gr-2)  refer only Module ..do not use any book in the market because they are

presented in question answer  form  and not good for concept.    If you follow module you would find that every concept

is linked with another in  a chain system......easy to understand and retain.  Do not try to ignore technicle words ever.

for retaining SM read the module every morning 5 am to 7 am.

The above strategy is very much safe and tested for exams.

dear friend you have almost two and haif months left for exam which is more than enough..just try to implement my tips, i can gurantee you that you should be able to score high in group -2 in may 2012.

when things are not going in our favour we should try hard........

first complete topics like decision table flow chart,networking,internet so as to get confidence.. after that proceed with other topics..

for sm concepts if we understand clearly in depth.. we can score well.. for that study module..  for revision use the following..

I would suggest u to go for Paduka..and do the practical part first..Flow charts, conversions (eg: binary to decimal, hexadecimal to binary, etc) and decision tables...it will give u a kick start and cover ur around10-15 marks.

Now for theory part.. In SM..Stategic analysis and Reaching Strategic Edge chapters are the most important..and its very easy to remember especially when u have paduka in ur hand. Rest of the chapters in strategic management will be easily done if study all chapters from a business point of view and with an analytical mind..maximum points will be retained in ur mind for a long time.

Do SM first. It will boost up ur moral. And when u will be done with ur 50 marks, there will be less pressure on you regarding how to tackle IT. Do main main topics and its a must to referthe ICAI module ( past year questions). History always repeats in one or the other way. Topics such as DBMS, Networks (especially LAN, WAN, etc) [its one of the most important chapter, it will cover around 10 marks in IT, doth enitre chapter thoroughly] and Chapter 4- Internet (ecommerce is very important).

In a jist i will suggest you to take paduka and ICAI past year questions module in you hand and u will definately suceed. It was my mantrato clear this subject. Hope that it will help you.

Better buy -2 books

1.Systematic approach to Info Tech-Mohit Chaturvedi (Bharat Edition)-study all the chapters from that book  except Networking (bcoz for Networking Gurukripa books is better). Bharat edition is best for info tech because it very easy to understand and study.

2.Gurukripa book is better for SM, Networking & flow chart.

I have just passed both groups in IPCE. I got 58 marks in IT & SM.

For IT

• Earlier I thought that IT would be a very interesting and intriguing subject since it is related to computers and I have been a good at computers throughout my school life.
• IT might be an interesting subject but unfortunately you need to mug a lot if you want to pass. Even if you are able to fully understand it chances are that you won't be able to write it correctly. So the best option is to mug the answers. The MODULE of institute is too large and you would end up wasting time if you study that book.
• Flowcharts are something which can give you 10 marks very easily. There are many questions in the book that have been never asked in the examinations. If you look at all the question papers of past exams you will notice that the questions asked in the exam are of similar type. So better practice those flowcharts which have been asked in the examination.
• The rest definitions in IT are very tough to cramp. So limit your studies to practice manual and do flowcharts properly.

For SM

• SM books aren't very thick and you don't need to cramp much. You need to understand the chapters thoroughly. If you have a poor command on english language you need to work harder.
• Revision is must and stick to practice manuals for revision in both subjects.

I tried to study IT from MODULE and ended up wasting time. I don't want to brag but truely speakin I had not studied SM for more than 3 days. I cramped a few answers in IT and did flowchart properly and ended up with decent marks.

Summing up I want to say two things.

1. Don't do whole of IT in detail but Flowcharts which have been asked in the exam need to be studied in detail.
2. Study SM in detail and try to understand as much as you can.
