Is TDS applicable on payments to Transporters like NAVATA, ARC, TVS etc. where payments exceeding Rs.20000/- even after obtaining their PAN #? What is the rule before 01-10-09 and after 01-10-09 in this regard?

there is no tds on transporters after 01.10.2009. please check the recent notification.
if you will try to read above 100 answer given on this site. if goods transport by road and transporter provide/quoted his Pan then no TDS applicable from 1.10.09 if not provide then TDS on Ind/fuf 1% others 2% to be deduct.
Nil rate wl be applicable if d transporter quotes his PAN. if PAN is not quoted d rate wl be 1% for an individual/huf n 2% for other transporters upto 31.03.2010.
if PAN is nt quoted wef. 1.04.10, d rate of TDS wl be 20% in all d cases.

Yes I agree with you, with effect from 1-10-09. You have not read my question completely, I believe. And every it is easily available what is after 1-10-09 but no one is answering what is it before 01-10-09. Could you please answer this?
