I've been listening some rumors/news(I've seen some forum posts too) that the situation is really grave for newly qualified chartered accountants. Is that true?(Or is this forum being flooded with unemployed CAs?) I have 2 more years to go for my CA final but i'm really worried with this whole affair.Any career advice?

It depends on market condition, how good companies are doing, how much they are getting business. Based on that Human resource are required. It is not the course which always gives employment. It is just a qualification for employment. currently though companies are doing good, they want to play safe and cut down operating cost. So first gain experience in industry. for freshers always salary is less. dont expect huge package in the begining. over the year you will get good package....

Arun , First of all relax ok the situation is not too good...but r u in tht sitution rite nw??? no .... rite  So enjoy ur studies tenure ,articleship or CA Final Classes for now atleast. Thats what my opinion is...Yeah thr is problem nw bt wid god grace we r lucky to nt to face such situation rite nw...so why r u worrying abt something which does not exists  atleast for u nw ..enjoy kar yaar ..study kar rite nw we r suppose to do tht only...baab ki baab mein dekhinge...wink

You should first concentrate on completing ur finals successfully. Pl do not lose ur focus on that by thinking about the situation of CAs. By the time u pass out in 2yrs this situation might change. Change is the only thing that is permanent in life ! All the best.

Undoubtedly results are damn good & freshers r still getin jobs but with certain compromises!!  in ma view this is temporary phenomenon &i trust dat icai  will surely do sumthin to retain d value of dis "Esteemed course"

Arun you leave CA course, start pan or vada pav cente. 100% you will earn more than CA. If you want money and position.

If life will be faired to you, you will enjoy being a frustrated CA else you will cool vada pavwala.

Atleast you will earn easily more than CA

The most singular advice, I've ever received.no

The easiest way to grab a high paying job is to do Industrial Training and then that company absorbs you on qualifying CA with a good package...

Hey Arun.. I am CA with 4 years of post-qualification and working in an MNC. Am placed good but not good enough compared to other streams such as BE. Have been a topper throughout my career and struggled hard, trust me, really really hard to crack this exam but finally it does not seem to be worth it. I have software engineer friends who were playful and not even average in their studies and are placed abroad  earning damn good and nowadays I am feeling frustrated and planning to start up some business rather than crawl with this qualification. And to ur question on the current situation, I am in touch with many chartered accountants who qualified in the recent Nov 2011 exams and struggling to be placed even after 4 months of results. And even those who are placed are getting a meagre 20k per month. Situation is really bad. But I honestly belive in 2 years, situation would be very much better and you will be well placed. ALL THE BEST!!

But I have a very good suggestion for you.  Start up your own practise as soon as you qualify.  CA`s are recognised and respected only here.   You will definetely gain fame and money when you can get into practice.

Try to start saving money right now, you will need that when you start practice.  It could take some time for you to establish your own firm but it will happen for sure and you will see success.
