Is practising a good option

Hi friends,

Just wanted to get some idea on whether practising is good option as compared to industry.

I have worked in industry since last 8 yrs and intend to move to practise. I have completely lost touch as last i did return filing or auditing was during my articleship.

Reason for shift is that i know i may not be able to continue for long in corporate culture and that i want to be my own boss.

I am 30+, will it be a great option now and if yes, how do i enter? I need to start.

Please provide your views.

Thank you,

Keyur Doshi

Dear Keyur,

As far as dependency is concerned Practice is the best option, as you said 'YOU WILL BE YOUR OWN BOSS'.

But at the same time it needs lot of planning to enter into Practice. Once you have decided to enter into Practice, your decision should be firm.

Unless you are joining a Parnership Firm which has already developed practice, it is very difficult to start by your own. To build new clients and develop practice is not an easy job and it is also time consuming, it happens gradually.

But once practice is well developed there is unlimited growth, and one day you will be hiring CAs.

I am not dismotivating you, but sharing what is fact.

And it will be better if you join a CA. firm on consultancy or assigment basis for initial period of around 1 to 1.5 years to again get in touch with return filing, auditing, how to handle clients etc.
