Is it true that Articleship leaves will now be 1/7th instead of 1/6th?

Many students whose articleship got over in second half of 2021 have received an email from ICAI stating that they should have done the procedure of 108/109 before 4/1/22 as new leave policy of 1/7th will be implemented in SSP from 4/1/22. Is this true news?

This requires clarification — as of the time of this forum post (early 2022), there was NO official ICAI announcement changing leaves from 1/6th to 1/7th. Here is the correct position:

1. Existing Rule (Regulation 59): CA articled assistants are entitled to leaves equal to 1/6th of the actual period of service — not of the total 3-year period. So if an article has served 18 months, they are entitled to 18/6 = 3 months of leaves.

2. 1/7th Rumour: This appears to be a rumour or misinformation circulating on social media/WhatsApp. ICAI has NOT officially changed the leave entitlement from 1/6th to 1/7th as of the information available.

3. How to Verify: Always verify such changes from official ICAI sources only:
- ICAI official website: icai.org → Students → Articleship → Regulations
- ICAI Board of Studies announcements
- ICAI e-journal / official gazette notifications

4. Current Leave Rules:
- 1/6th of the period of actual service as leave entitlement
- Leaves must be approved by the Principal
- Excess leaves taken beyond entitlement must be compensated by extending the articleship period
- Medical leaves and exam leaves are handled separately as per ICAI guidelines

5. Advice: Do not rely on WhatsApp/forum posts for changes in ICAI regulations. Check icai.org directly or call ICAI helpline before acting on any such information
