Is it correct in CPT Dec. 2010 paper? Is there any mistakes?

ven i have appeared 4 cpt there were many mistakes in questions specially in maths and eco.nd these were nt simple mistakes bt big one's

Dear all actually I draft this post on behalf of my CPT friends and you all know that Papers are not released in public. So I was not sure what the questions are. But there is a link to send/inform ICAI about that mistakes so that icai and students should aware. I just want that link if anybody knows here....

I gave my CPT on Sunday. I got Set D. I left the 114th question blank because the correct answer for AFC wasn't there.

If the question was indeed, wrong... How will they mark it?!

Will I get a zero for that?!

Without commenting on the question paper's mistake, I wish to give certain basic concepts about CA course :

. 

1.  Even in CA final we have regularly experienced some mistakes in question papers.  

CA students are future Auditors.  

The Institute wishes to test whether students are so confident to comment on mistakes in the question formation itself at the time of answering.

2. When question does not give proper figures, then assume some suitable figures relevant to the question and solve it.  

Write your assumption in the working notes.

3. Many times more than one answer is there of a question.  

Choose one of  the most suitable and don't forget to write that question can be solved in two-three methods.

4. Don't  get disturbed when there is a typical question of one or four marks.

If you can answer; answer it.  Otherwise leave it immediately without wasting your time.

The Institute wants to check whether student is in the position to handle difficult situations in practical life or not.

5. To qualify CA, clear concepts with quick decisions and speedy disposal of work are more important than to emphasis on silly mistakes of one mark or two marks.

6. In future also; this will regularly happen from the Institute's side.

So be strong in your conceptual part and dare to write in exams that question is wrong !

Yes what u wrote is true for first question.But i cann't find any mistake in a/c.There is another mistake in QA.To my memory i could grab only some information i.e.,THe no.of odds in favour of x is given as some 3:1 and odd against Y is given as 6:3 which will not be possible.

agree with jashu.. there were only 2 mistakes in the paper.. 1st was that AFC question whereas the question should either have asked what is the AVC or given one of the options as 290.. 2nd mistake was in the probabilities where one of the probability if taken into account would have a value greater than 1 which is theoretically not possible as probability value ranges between 0 and 1.

P.S: hope ICAI clarifies whatz going to happen with regards to this and as ICAI is taking step towards more transparency it would be great if future CPT answers are put up at the site..

P.P.S: As i am just a student, there is no intention to criticize any expert or ICAI. But as a CA student  I give my view to ICAI about our needs and requirements. I am a student of CPT who wrote it this Decemeber'10. The views may differ from candidate to candidate. So this query or view is  to be treated as personal and without any malice. My Nobel intention is just to become a helping hand to the ICAI and not cause any furore. I respect ICAI for its perfection and for its greatest benefit and the greatest benefit the profession and CA Students i posted my view/query here.
