Is it compulsory to report even losses in tax return

if there is no taxable income and no tds deducted for individuals tax reurn filing is not compulsory. 

If there is loss in stock investment in short term , in other words  STCL, is it necessary to report in return or not compulsiory specially if I diont want to carry forward loos and dont want to take benefit against future STCG as I have stopped investing in shares and  MFs.

No........ If income exceed basic limit..........  return filling mandatory

All the transactions gets reported to department by AIR.........  In case you have not filed even nil return....... Department sends non-filler of return notice....... and if turnover is high, likely to be selected for scrutiny.....       So based on volume and value of transactions take call.. .....
