Is hard of returns required to be sent to range

there is no mandatory binding to submit the hard copy, of "return filed", however the assessee has to file cenvat records, and challns paid to the range, and if they ask to submit the same then the assessee has no option but to submit the same, 

submit copies to them for few months, get a stamped aknowledgement, you will certainly learn few things with this interaction with them, and would be able to make errorless filing in future. after a certain period if they are ensured of error free return from your side, they will not insist you to submit hard copies,.

if you decline to submit the copies, they have power to ask you for the details of return submitted in writing, and that would invoice bigger issues, if the return is not filed properly.

It is true that itis  not mandatory to submit the ER-1/ER-2/ER-3/ER-4, 5,6,7,8, as hard copy, if you have filed it online, however if Range officer is asking for it, it has to be found, do they have any query, or specefic reason?, if there are, it can always be submitted.
