Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies the investment period for a Public Provident Fund (PPF) account for the financial year 2020-21. Investments made between 1 April 2020 and 31 March 2021 count towards FY 2020-21. The government extended the deadline to 30 June 2020 for claiming deductions for FY 2019-20, meaning investments made up to this date can be claimed for the previous financial year, or optionally for FY 2020-21, but not both.

The date for making various investment/payment for claiming deduction under Section 80C (LIC, PPF, NSC etc.), 80D (Mediclaim), 80G (Donations), etc. has been extended to 30 June 2020. Hence the investment/payment can be made up to 30 June 2020 for claiming the deduction under these sections for FY 2019-20
Sir , Although date for making investment is extended but it is useful for those who are unable to make investment till 31st march 2020. If you made investment after 31st march 2020 then you can cliam it either in FY2019-20 OR 2020-21 as per your choice. feel free to connect with me if any further clarification needed.
