In CA finan we have only one subject about finance that too covers lots of portion.....You definetly need to gain more knowledge...CFA or FRM is a good bet.

FRM --- ? whats the full form of FRM ?

FRM Stands for Financial Risk Manager ( www.garp.com).It is the hottest thing now in d market....There are only 13000 qualified ppl in d world. Exam happens in every november You can Opt for Level 1 and Level 2 Separately or  can jus give a final exam..

Is  FRM qualification globally recognised ? What is the scope for it India ? Will it help in getting a good job ?

As guided by you ,i went to the GARP site and found the relevant information. There i found a FRM Course  which makes you specialist in Banking and Insirance sector.PLEASE tell me something about it..

I know Japanese Language  ( JLPT Level 3 )..Will  FRM Qualification be helpful in getting a good job in Japan  or Japanese Bank /Company in INDIA.

It is Globally Recognised. It helps you in Many ways. I will put it like this.

Investment Baking is all about Investment decisions ( Also Includes M&A activities)

Investment is Based on various Risk and return Parameters ( We need to analyse Risk And Returns)

Analysis and projection of return is very simple but it is not the case when it comes to return. Lots of Mathematical and statistical calculations are required.

FRM is completely focussed on Risk Management and it is the Best certification/cource in this field. PRM is also in picture but not that popular.

In Quanitative terms, CA syllabus risk management is covered in Porfolio Mmnt,Derivatives and International Finance ( not more than 100 Pages). It does not talks about the BASEL II at all but FRM covers Risk Management in 3000+ Pages. Like the IFRS is hyped in Accounting Field, BASEL II is the buzzword in Banking and Risk management.

I am sure that Many of CAs does not know about FRM coz they all are concentrating more on Audit TAx and accounting.BUt it will add great value to ur CV......

I am sure that there will be a madrush for FRM within 2-3 years ....Best thing is to get certified before that ...

Ask me if u have any othe r doubts.

Hi Manu/Kapil,

What are the entry barriers in Inv Banking, Personally I d love to work in an IB or VC or PE firm....

But I dont know where to start.

The problem for CA's in IBs is that they are given either an accounting or an internal audit roles in these firms.

I just want to know how do i go about seaching a good IB or a VC or PE job.....

Dear Manu

THANKS FOR THE VALUABLE INFORMATION..

I am residing in Delhi.

Is there any center in Delhi from where i could get all the details about the course .

Will they provide us the sufficient study material.

Is there any good private coaching centers in Delhi for FRM.

R  u FRM Qualified Professional .Can u show me the way in aquirin the FRM Degree.

THANKS

There are no GARP centres in Delhi as Such but there 1 coaching centre in Delhi( Dont really know).
BUt the best to way to gather information is to visit forums and blogs. There is one website(www.pagalguy.com) for MBAs,CFAs,FRMs,GMAT,CAT etc.
which is 10 times bigger than Caclubindia.

The following is the link ( Please chekc the site for more links)

https://www.pagalguy.com/forum/career-discussions/37190-frm-2009-aspirants-garp-25.html

Please go through these links and also GARP and make sure that you meet alll the eligibility criteria.

Study Materials.

If you go for the original study material it will cost u close to 750 USD
but there is a person is mumbai who has the soft copies and send the print outs at damn cheap rates( close to RS 2000/ for 3000+ pages material)
.U need to pay the money only after the books are delivered. ( Bharat-09833959666)

Am not an FRM professional but i am planning to give the full exam this november.Lots of maths & Stats fundas are there( Mainly Qant finance)

Lets see how it goes.

Please feel free to ask if u have any Questions. I will try toi help with the limited knowledge i have.

CHeers
Manu

Though it is suffice. There is no harm in going for  2nd degree. Better tio go for FRM or CFA

Well, I guess they have stopped considering fresh ca's for investment banking.... Research is easy to get in... But CFA or MBA FInance will help you alot.... FRM is not of much use in India, atleast for the next 5 - 7 years.....

Though even if you search online about these questions, you will get confused, i would suggest you Chartered accountant career

Are you serious guys - FRM for Investment Banking?

@ Kapil: FRM would NOT help you in any way in getting a job in IB. Infact do not even mention in your interviews that you considered FRM because wanted to enter IB.

The best bet is a MBA (Finance) from a top tier college, if you want to do that but if you want to start into a job straight after your CA and do not want to study full time further, then consider CFA. (needless to USA only).

Having said that a CFA would only increase your chances by a slight bit.

The initiative taken for the concern is very serious and need an attention of every one. This is the concern which exists in the society and needs to be eliminated from the society as soon as possible. I subscribe to Insider Score, and that is correct there has been scant insider buying. Insider Score's market wide buying indicator tracks very closely my sentiment indicators.
