What to do about the following?
Original filed 14/07/2017 , ITR3/44ADA, successfully e verified.
Declared defective, CPC comminication date - 19/10/2017, error code 181 (formal notice).
1. Fault accepted, Rectified return filed u/s 139(9) on 1/11/2017.

2. Fault accepted, Rectified return filed u/s 139(9) on 14/02/2018.
In March 2018, 143(1) was sent with reference number of "rectified return 2", with all incomes duly acknowledged, and five rupees demand.
At the same time, this February Return PDF is watermarked ïnvalid" on efiling site, but no formal notice of this has been served.

You should be congratulated for acceptance of ITR, being declared defective; but later on accepted the same as valid by CPC!!!
Relax, no need to pay Rs.5/-
Keep hard copy of intimation u/s. 143(1)....... to show it as proof, in case again it gets changed!!!
You need to do nothing. The return filed by you on 01-11-2017 has been processed and intimation u/143(1) has been given. The difference of Rs. 5 can be ignored.
Since the return filed earlier in Nov 2017 has been processed, the return filed in February has been taken as invalid.
Accepting a defective return is very rare.

Thank you but the reference number in the 143(1) is the same as the filing number of the latest return that was declared invalid.
