I had filed e-return for AY 2010-11 on 30-03-2011 for which i recived mail from CPC as follows

"

Please find attached the Income tax Intimation U/S 143(1) for PAN xxxxxxxxxx with respect to the return of income filed by you for the Assessment Year 2010-11.

In case of variance of Rs. 100 or more, between Tax Credits (TDS/TCS/Advance Tax/Self Assessment Tax) as claimed by you in the Return of Income and the computation under Sec.143(1) per attached Intimation, a separate email will be sent to you providing details on the same.

"

and in attachment got copy of tax computation in which both columns are same

means as provided by tax payer and as computed under section 143(1)

tax liability is also NIL

Should i need to reply ITO for same ?

or i should kept it as it is

as they had not mentioned any tax liability for me

it works as assesment order or not ?

The intimation u/s 143(1) is an assessment order. If the computation and tax as per return and u/s 143(1) is the same, no need to reply to CPC.

agree with above reply

Its only  intemation about your retrun has been Accepted & processed by Income Tax Department.

Its Like your assessment.

Thanks to all for your reply and support

personal thanks to Mr.Deepsh, Mr.Valji and Mr.Himanshu

if your computation is same with computation of ITO you are not required to reply to CPC...

No need to reply  if demand is NIL

AGREE WITH ALL

please do nothing..it is just an intimation order...

its someting like the summery of the details of income as well as

the tax that you paid to the government...

so keep that letter safely in closet and go to deep sleep...

no need to reply to cpc

There will be an attachment to that mail. That is the order. Details will be provided in it fully with comparison.

agree with all above but  i am little confused coz all the aforsiad replies say" 143(1) intimation "as assesment order . wether 143(1) is assesment order ? i think its technically called as 143(1) intimation and it is not a assesment order. 263, 264 etc not doen on the basis of 143(1).

As per section 143(1) only intimation sent by CPC to assessee for making correct if any difference found in tax paid or refund claimed .

If all above is correct then no need to reply the same .
