Interest on delay by builder.

The builder was supposed to give possession by Sept.,2019 as per agreement. But he applied for extension in Sept., 2019 for the registered project in which my home is and got first extension in Nov.,2019 for one year upto sept.,2020. Now again he has got another six month extension due to covid upto March 2021. Please let me know whether the first extension is valid and whether he is liable to pay me interest for any period upto March,2021.

ou are likely entitled to seek interest for the delay. While builders often cite COVID-19 extensions to avoid liability, courts have increasingly held that these do not waive the builder's obligation to pay interest for delays that were not directly caused by the pandemic or were already in progress. You should gather your agreement documents and consider filing a complaint through your state's RERA portal to claim the interest due.
