Quick Summary
Many taxpayers are encountering interest charges under section 234F when filing their Income Tax Returns (ITR) on August 1st, 2021, even though the filing deadline has been extended to September 30th. This appears to be a technical glitch on the income tax portal, causing a late fee to be applied incorrectly. While the filing date is extended, the due date for tax payment remains July 31st, meaning interest is applicable if tax was due and unpaid by then.

It's a Late Fee, and charging due to portal problem,
But this is harassment.
It's technical glitch
Date to file the return is extended and NOT the date of payment of taxes. if tax is due but not paid by July 31st you will be charged interest.
Income tax portal is created is very issue please wait for the first weak of august then filed ITR i think not calculate late fees
Rajesh another way is to say that circular doesn't waive the penalty section 234F!
Samanthaji read carefully 234F , is late fees , and charged after due date,
This is India.Kagaz unka kalam unki kaun rokega unko?
