Hi all,

I paid the due amount to government on 1st september. But on 2nd september I paid interest on that due amount. Later they extended the deadline to 7th september. How can I claim the interest amount which was paid on due amout?

System will automatically calculate and it will give refund. Need not worry

In our software or Income tax department will do ?

The software which I used for ITR was only showing 50% of amount was coming as refund on which I paid the interest amount.

I paid interest as Rs.2072, but refund is coming only Rs.1036

Just file the revise return with correctly calculated figures and upload the same and do everification. You need not use the button of calculate tax as utility might calculate as per last date to be 31st aug

Use freshly downloaded utility to revise the return.. Do not use the one downloaded before 31st August..

Thank you all for your guidance.

But when I contacted IT department, as they said that you nee to wait untill your return will get processed so that you can rectify the amount and you can get your interest as refund.

in the intimation u/s 143(1) it will come as

As reported by Tax Payer         As per 143(1)

int u/s  234A                    XXX                                       0

int u/s  234B                    XXX                                       0

int u/s  234C                    XXX                                       0

Just relax and wait for your refund

Happy waiting

Thank you. I will wait for refund.

Hello all,

I received a letter saying that ITR-V was received. Please let me know the procedure to get the refund amount which I paid additionally to the department.

Revise the return and everify or send the itrv because the original return that you had filed is using the old downloaded form. File revise return and claim the refund in it.

can I get full amount as refund or any deductions. because while i'm trying to do revise return it was showing only 50% of the amount as refund in software.

Please disclose the net taxable income so that tax amt can be determined. And amt paid including all the sa tax and interest payment

I contacted department, they told that no need to do anything now. I should receive a notice for refund is initiating.

OK Thats gr8

In 2010-11 same thing happened.  The Self asses Tax was less than 10k still the ITR  was giving interest u/s 234A .  I paid more for safety. But when i got assesmrnt info it was corrected to NIl and i got more refund than what i had calculated..
