I have filed a belated ITR for the AY 2015-16, which is processed as defective return and now it is declared as invalid return. Now how can I file the return.

you may file another belated return until March 31, 2017.

you can't revise a belated return

read the reasons for defects. download that X M L and import it in the java utility. first change date to current date. select return filed under section 139(9). enter original acknowledgement number in receipt number field. enter cpc order number. make changes to remove defects. genarate X M L and upload it in pending actions-> submit-> agree defects

I have submitted return U/s 139(9) on Feb 7,2017 and on next day the return is declared as invalid. Now can I file revised return because its a belated return.

You can filed return u/s 139(5) received return if java utility problem there are different problem but issue notice income tax Department

The reply of Mr Venkatesh is the right one and I fully agree with him. I fail to understand again from Bhawna that the ITR was again rejected. There should be some other reason. Please carefully go through the reasons for the alleged defect in the Original Return as stated in the notice u/s 139(9). Then file return u/s 139(9) as per procedure given by Mr Venkatesh.
