I am in a service providing sector and If my total turnover under section 44AD IS 20 laks am i required to register under service tax. Since under 44AD no accounts is kept and income is calculated on presumptive basis.

Dear don't get confused between two things...
44ad is related to Income Tax Act however Service tax is governed by service tax rules
So if your turnnover is exceeding or expected to exceed 10 Lacs you need to get registerd...
