Income tax Return of sold House Property

Quick Summary
If you've sold a house property for over Rs 30 lakhs, the transaction will likely be reported under SFT (Specified Financial Transaction). While the standard Income Tax Return (ITR) deadline is 31st July, you may not need to file if your total income, including capital gains, is below the basic exemption limit. However, filing an ITR is recommended to avoid potential notices from the tax authorities.

Is it required to file ITR ?

No need to file the ITR. However, department might issue a notice stating that certain capital gain transactions have been done for which reply can be given by the assessee stating that capital gain/income is below the basic exemption limit.

If overall income is more than Rs.2,50,000 then you are required to file ITR. Also on safer side, you have to file ITR, so no notice has been issued in favour of you.
