Quick Summary
This discussion explores the tax implications of royalty payments received as part of compensation for agricultural land acquired through compulsory acquisition. While the capital gains on the land itself may be exempt, the taxability of these royalty payments is being questioned. The consensus suggests that income tax on compulsory acquisition royalties is generally not applicable, especially when the royalty is a separate consideration for the land.
