Income tax o/s demand

I have a demand o/s for AY 2009-10, of rs. 60K approx. the assessment for all other years before and after is complete with no issues.

I am salaried and all tax is thru employer TDS. I have not received any assessment orders or details for tax demand. I noticed this online , while filing my return last year. I have tried in vain through various sources to get details.

What should i do to undertsnad the demand and reply to resolve. Im confident I don't owe this much.

consult directly to income tax officer with help of ca because with out AO we can not say any thing

I guess the demand is due to tax deducted at source from salaries but not deposited and/or TDS return not correctly filed by the deductor.

The Department will adjust this amount if there is any refund due to you for any assessment year. You may ask the CPC Bangalore to send you the intimation for that AY to ascertain how come the demand arrives. If you are satisfied pay the demand. Otherwise interest will be accruing like taht of a taxi meter. Else, contact the deductor to revise TDS return.
