Income tax notice under section 143(1)

Today I got income tax notice under section 143(1) via email. It seems like vide this notice they are going to adjust some old demand (pertaining to the period of 2008) against refund payable. But same demand (ie. same DIN number) has already been adjusted against refund payable for the period of 2013-14. I wonder why still they raise same demand which was already adjusted before.

However in the email or at notice itself there is no mention about how to reply to the notice. When logged in into the efiling portal at eProceeding tab also there is no record regarding it.

Kindly let me know how to respond to this notice.

You need to file rectification request u/s. 154, and clarify the amount which is already adusted.

Actually there was notification at my efiling portal under "Outstanding Tax Demand" , reply to which was already submitted in 2015 but now differed AO , different ward has raised demand again. I submitted a reply to that demand with attachment once again (1st reply in 2015, 2nd reply today). Still have I to file rectification request seperately u/s 154 as mentioned in above reply ?
