Quick Summary
This discussion clarifies that the Income Tax Department does not offer specific benefits for deceased individuals simply for having filed returns in previous years. While any due refunds can be claimed, there are no compensatory benefits. The department generally cannot pursue non-compliance actions against the deceased, though legal heirs may need to address outstanding matters on their behalf.
There is no such kinds of benefits from income tax department for mere filing of income tax returns for deceased assessee. if any refund is due we can get the same.
I dont think so. legal heirs cant be made liable for the acts of the deceased. a proceeding cannot be launched on the legal heirs for penalty or offence.
