yes but medical expenses to an extent of 30000 rs (inclusive of medical insurance and medical check up expenses) can be claimed under section 80D only if the assessee is very senior citizen.
The limit under section 80D is Rs. 25,000/- and not 15,000/-. However if this is also short for you then you can claim extra Rs. 5,000/- as preventive health checkup and this 5,000/- can be paid in cash. So total amount would add up to Rs. 30,000/-.

Medical Reimbursement upto Rs.15,000 is exempted perquisite. An amount in excess of Rs. 15,000 should be added  under the head ''SALARY'' i.e., excess amount is taxable.

Can the mediclaim expenditure paid by the employee be considered for medical reimbursement?

Please note that the mediclaim premium paid is not considered as medical expenditure. Therefore, it cannot be considered for taking income tax exemption as medical reimbursement. Mediclaim premium paid can be taken as a income tax deduction u/s 80D separately.

Assessee and his family is less than 60 years & parents are above 60 years of age. So, excess of rs. 500/- can be claimed under 80D

mr. Ilyas medical expenses can be claimed only in the case of very senior citizen and he/she shouldn't have mediclaim insurance or policy in their name
