Income received outside india

One of my family member has gone for employment to oman and receives salary in bank account opened in bank of that country. He transfers some of the portion of his income to his NRE account to India. As per the income tax act he is Resident for FY 17-18. So for calculation of tax on income received in oman do I need to consider only the amount transferred to NRE account or total salary received in the account opened in oman? Kindly provide your views on above situation.

Once you are a resident in India, your income earned or received anywhere in the world is taxable in India. You must include the income received from your Oman employer in your income tax return that you will file in India. If any tax has been deducted in Oman on this income, you can make use of the Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA) so that your income is not doubly taxed.
